Free community programs return to Fair Park this spring
Special for The Dallas Examiner
Fair Park will celebrate spring with a series of free programs and activities running from March through June. The events kick off during Spring Break, with Yoga every Tuesday night at Museum Green, located just inside Gate 5 at the corner of Grand Avenue and Second Avenue, March 14.
Also, in partnership with Yoga N Da Hood and Dallas-based artists VET and Karla Ceballos, Zumba will be offered Thursday nights. On Saturday morning there will be lessons and art games.
“It has been our longstanding goal to enable Fair Park by providing regular, free and accessible programs that are relevant to the wants and needs of our neighboring communities,” said Ashley Langworthy, West Region director at Biederman Redevelopment Ventures. “This year, we’re furthering those goals by expanding our partnerships to showcase the talent and culture that exists right here in South Dallas.”
Fair Park will also host other free recurring events such as group walks with GirlTrek and the Juanita J. Craft Civil Rights House and Museum, birding with the Trinity River Audubon Center, bike rodeos with Bike Friendly South Dallas, and outdoor movie nights.
On May 20, Texas Turtle Day will once again offer attendees an up-close encounter with the many species of turtles in Leonhardt Lagoon as the Texas Turtles perform their annual catch-and-release conservation and monitoring study.
“First of all, Fair Park is a park,” said Alyssa Arnold, Chief Impact Officer of Fair Park. “The upcoming series of programming seeks to further emphasize and amplify this message as we prepare for the future Community Park Complex.”
