3 of the record-breaking first 5 days at Austin Airport occurred during SXSW 2023

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin-Bergstrom International Airport on Sunday provided information on the number of passengers arriving and departing from the airport since the start of the 2023 South by Southwest Conference & Festivals.

The airport said three of its spring/SXSW travel dates thus far have ranked in the top 10 for record-breaking days at AUS. These days include March 10 at number 2, March 13 at number 3, and March 12 at number 5.

“Passenger numbers were high and the airport handled the high passenger volume without problems. The extra staffing and preparations implemented by the airport and our partners have paid off,” airport officials said.

The average number for each day was more than 30,000.

  • March 9: 33,858
  • March 10: 36,841
  • March 11: 29,584
